Career in brief
An engineer by training, a manager by profession, the majority of Dave’s working career has been spent in management within the engineering industry. During this time he gained significant experience within highly demanding and challenging environments and has developed, through necessity, into an effective thinker and achiever offering proven strategic planning, project management, facilitation, coaching and communication skills.

He is the Operations Director of Coverdale UK and interim Managing Director of Coverdale China. Dave has working experiences in UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Singapore, UAE, Falkland Islands, USA and China. His expertise lies in his ability to coach individuals and teams at all levels within organisations and bring to life their latent skills and full potential. He has been involved in major cultural development programmes, aligning the needs of the business with that of its employees, defining the competencies required to bring about improved performance, business results and sustained change.

In his work as a consultant and trainer he focuses on:

Business improvement
Board Facilitation
Consulting, facilitating and managing of organisational development projects
Facilitating organisational development processes e.g. strategy work, visions etc
Facilitating project start ups, issue resolution and problem solving sessions
Technical development e.g. models in line with client requirements
Training sessions in team development, leadership, coaching, facilitation and project management

Some recent assignments:

Strategy work with boards in the manufacturing, engineering, construction, oil, rail and logistics industries
Consulted with and facilitated the development of various organisation’s vision and strategy
Project delivery improvement
Facilitation of improvement programmes
Developed the in-house capability for what was the largest JV in China to shape the company culture, values and methods of working together
Development and delivery of Executive & Talent development programmes
Lead consultant on development of the Coverdale Change model and Approach to Change
As part of an internal project managed the set up of Coverdale China as a new business venture
Lectured on the Beijing International MBA, Peking University

"My ability lies in bringing the best out of people so that they go on to achieve greater and better things. When this is aligned to organisational development the results can be extraordinary. I have a particular interest in business improvement and the part leadership plays in this. What do I get from my working life? I can honestly say I learn something different every day. When I get some time off I enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren – they never fail to surprise me. I love sport, in particular football and hold a coaching licence with The Scottish Football Association. I live in a converted Blacksmith’s workshop that along with the large garden requires lots of tender loving care."
