Career in brief

An industrial psychologist by training, his early management experience was leading the development of innovative and effective training methods in ICI. Later, with IBM, he was responsible for a number of major accounts managing the specification and installation of bespoke IT systems - including the training of their users. Before joining Coverdale in 1989 he managed the behavioural element of a major change programme as the company moved from its traditional production focus to that of a market led organisation. Experience has confirmed that individuals’ capacity to lead, interact and cooperate with others - particularly in times of change - is critical to the delivery of useful results.

In his work as a consultant and trainer he focuses on:
  • Aligning behavioural/cultural development with organisational change
  • Facilitating executives up to Board level
  • Leadership development
  • Team development - management teams, multi-disciplinary teams, project teams and multi-cultural teams
  • Training facilitators and coaches with client organisations
Some recent assignments:
  • Working with an international team of Coverdale consultants, providing the core leadership competencies to a global software organisation that is expecting to quadruple turnover in the next 10 years.
  • Developing a business improvement team targeted at reducing costs in order to fund new business initiatives.
  • Facilitating a Board team over a number of years as they cope with significant external change arising from privatisation and ongoing regulation.
Education and training:
  • BSc Industrial Psychology
