He then went on to work for an international consultancy focusing on the development of leaders and teams in industries ranging from large multi-nationals to entrepreneurial small businesses. His challenging style has proved particularly successful in creating and sustaining behavioural change in the people he works with. Jamie continues this type of development facilitation as a consultant within the Coverdale Organisation and his experiential approach has been of considerable help to those client who have needed to align new and existing people together into an ever changing business environment whilst still maintaining people’s flair and individuality. In his work as a consultant and trainer he focuses on:
"When people describe me as a trainer I envisage me holding a chair, cracking a whip and trying to get a wild animal to jump through a hoop. Put simply, I challenge people to look at themselves differently and change the way they may wish to do things. Realising that business needs good process, market penetration, products and services etc, but without effective and motivated people the journey may fail or at best be much more difficult than it needs to be. Sometimes, and quite wrongly described as "soft skills", these, what I prefer to call “tactical skills” are the lubrication of a highly effective team. My role is to help people do, say and feel differently about their contribution to the team whether as a team player or a leader. The biggest buzz I get is seeing and hearing the pennies drop and the newly motivated people aspiring to their true potential, whatever that may be. On a personal front, my family and I love the great outdoors and when hill walking will bore people senseless on interesting cloud formations and the geology beneath their feet. I enjoy working with my hands and can be quite creative armed with anything from a fine file to a chainsaw." |
