Career in brief

Johnnie started his career in banking, arranging project finance for companies in Latin America and later securitised finance for Japanese companies in Europe. Having developed a wide network amongst the Japanese community in London, Johnnie joined the marketing services group, WPP, to help develop its Japanese client base and while there developed his interest in consulting to organisations on corporate identity and brand alignment. Johnnie worked for The British Council to develop its corporate brand, before joining People in Business, the London-based management consultancy to apply some of the principles of brand alignment on the inside of its client organisations. After a period practising as an independent consultant, Johnnie joined Coverdale to continue this work but adding the dimension of training and development as a means of enabling and sustaining change.

In his work as a consultant and coach he focuses on:

  • Devising, directing and coaching programmes in team development and systematic working
  • Facilitating leadership team meetings and workshops
  • Facilitating conflict resolution
  • Building sustainable capacity for organisations to manage change
Some recent assignments:
  • Lead consultant on a management development programme for a multi-national organisation in the agro-chemicals sector
  • Coaching managers on teamwork skills for a large UK utility provider
  • Designed and facilitated a change management initiative for the operational board of a UK insurance company
  • Designed and facilitated a development process for the management team of a leading UK fine arts organisation
  • Lead consultant in the devising and delivery of a development programme for directors and managers for a major performing arts organisation
  • Designed and facilitated an awayday for the senior team and devised a training programme for the wider leadership team of a newly-formed federation of Academy schools
  • Devised and delivered a series of workshops for managers and their personal assistants at a leading UK business school
  • Facilitated a series of conflict resolution meetings between two parties in dispute
