Capability indicators

Give each of the following ten aspects of change capability a score of between 0 and 10. A low score means that in your judgement the organisation is very far from meeting the description given. A high score means that you believe that the organisation fits the description, or comes near to it.

1. The organisation has considerable experience of introducing changes similar to this one, has learned and applied lessons from that experience
2. Top management is behind the planned change and will give visible leadership
3. There are clear and stated purposes for the proposed change
4. There is a real appetite for this change among those who will be affected by it
5. The proposed change is clearly in alignment with business strategy
6. Talented people are available to work on this project
7. The organisation is used to 'managing by projects' and has the skills and methodologies in place
8. There is an adequate budget, or there will be
9. Sufficient time is going to be made available, both for the development and for the roll out of the project
10. The organisation will see the change embedded, not give up after the launch and go on to the next 'thing'
