Step 4: Implementation
Next we need to put into action what has been agreed. The coach should be available either physically, if requested, or at the end of a telephone for support. Clarity of expectations is vital. A thorough risk assessment is useful before implementation, but there needs to be differentiation between risk assessment, which is helpful, and speculation about possible difficulties and consequences, which can lead to reluctance to implement.
When the coach is also the line manager they may also have to ensure resources are available and blockages are cleared. A line manager will have an interest in progress against task aims, so it is helpful to agree a series of milestone reviews.
