Leading the way in the legacy insurance market

For over 30 years Compre has operated in the Financial Services sector as a global leader in the acquisition and management of (re) insurance companies and portfolios in run-off. With a niche focus on mid-market portfolios, Compre’s ability to deliver sustainable solution on behalf of its clients has led to impressive growth across key markets in recent years. Now operating in London, US, Germany, Malta, Bermuda, Finland and Switzerland there’s been a significant growth in personnel at all levels. Managing growth and investing in its’ people has been central to Compre’s mission.

Purpose...

In the lead up to Compre’s entry in to the US market and the anticipation of significant growth, Compre CEO Will Bridger approached Coverdale to support the skill development of existing and emerging leaders, so that they were better equipped to lead the growth of business, anchored in the right behaviours.The impending growth along with an injection of capital to deliver deals in the sector would require teams across the planet to work together with ‘one voice’. As well as developing a ‘unified approach’ to working with each other across continents and cultures, Coverdale was commissioned to facilitate Compre’s journey through transformational organisational development in 2020 and beyond.

Approach...

Coverdale’s strategy was to deliver in person, face to face training across 3 x 3-day modules spread over 9 months. Then COVID and international lock-downs struck, and no-one knew when it would end. However, Compre’s scale up programme and growth trajectory was already in action. The business needed to prepare its leadership team and new team members for life during and post pandemic. A new approach was needed.Coverdale pivoted its delivery programme and designed 11 modules, delivered entirely in a virtual space through online video facilitation. The re-designed online programme was a first for Coverdale and Compre. It was successfully delivered from May – December 2021 across multiple locations, time zones and cohorts.This ‘digital first’ solution helped Compre’s team explore leadership behaviours, the development of practical skills, and how to harness the diversity of cultures and backgrounds across the firm. Coaching involved figuring out what ‘great’ leadership looked like for Compre, along with effective delegation, motivating others and leading individuals and teams through rapid change.

Impact...

The partnership with Coverdale has been highly regarded across Compre’s teams as an effective way of helping the quality of thinking, aiming, planning, cross-functional collaboration and results delivery. The highly bespoke training has enabled teams to unlock skills across the globe and deploy them to help Compre fulfil its mission to become a legacy partner of choice. Coverdale has continued to support the development of emerging leaders at Compre with the Foundation Leadership Programme, providing further bespoke skill development programmes directed at supporting the business’ global growth.
